EVOLUTION FRIDAY NIGHTS SKILLS SESSIONS FALL 2011
Week 1: Dribbling and Shielding
Changing direction while in control of the ball and learning how and when you should shield the ball
Week 2 Passing & Creating Space
Improving accuracy of passing and introduction to the “wall pass”, “third player running” and “one-twos”
Week 3 Attacking Play
1vs1- Taking on an opponent
2vs2 – Attackers making supporting runs and combining passes to get a shot off
3vs2 – Using the extra player in the last third
Week 4: Spatial Awareness and Player Positioning
Coaching players to react to the position of the ball and how to link up with team mates
Week 5: Push passing, Driving passes and Crossing
Basic passing progressed into powerful laced driven passes and crossing from wide positions
Week 6: Shooting
Improving power and placement
Week 7: Defending
1vs1
Defending as a team
Week 8: Flicks and Tricks
Players will learn new tricks and skills; today we’ll also impress upon players the importance of USING what they learn, not just in practice; TO BE CREATIVE WHEN YOU PLAY…its more fun and you’ll get better results
Players will receive homework from each practice giving them specific soccer drills to work on at home for the week! Homework will always be in relation to what the players practiced in Academy Friday Night Skills.
Mini Evo U5 U6
Academy Friday Night Skills will assist our Mini Evo in developing their dribbling, passing and shooting while keeping them involved and active. Games used are selected as they are both fun and self teaching. Evolution Academy Friday Night Skills is a great opportunity for our Mini’s to be coached by our Evolution Academy coaches, and gain enhanced skills before making the step up at to the Academy team at U7.
